Where does money come from?
One day, a little boy and his mom went to the store to buy a birthday gift for one of the boy’s friends. As they were waiting to pay, the little boy asked his mom about the green papers she held in her hand.
“Mom, what are those?” he asked. “Why, that’s money,” his mom answered. “That’s what we use to pay for things.”
“Where did you get it, Mom?” the boy asked. “Where does money come from?”
His mom laughed and said, “Wouldn't it be fun if money grew on trees and you could pick all you wanted? But the truth is we must work for the money we spend and also for the money we give to you.”
“Where can I get some money?” the little boy asked.
“Some boys and girls get money from their parents as an allowance,” his mom said. “Maybe you can get an allowance, too.”
